1. General Character



Family: Resinous / Balsamic



Type: Fossilized damar resin (from Shorea spp., Dipterocarpaceae)



Main Use: Base note & natural fixative in perfumery, incense, and aromatherapy blends



2. Olfactory Description



Top: Mild woody, faintly sweet, slightly smoky when freshly heated



Heart (Middle): Balsamic, amber-like, with subtle pine and soft vanilla nuances



Base: Deep resinous, earthy, leathery, warm, slightly powdery, long-lasting



3. Scent Nuances



Woody – reminiscent of pine or copal, but drier and more subdued



Balsamic – warm, meditative, and soothing



Amber / Sweet – faint honey-vanilla undertones



Smoky / Incense-like – ritualistic, with a clean resinous smoke when burned



Fixative Quality – enhances longevity and depth of other fragrance notes



4. Role in Perfumery & Incense

Blends well with: Frankincense, Myrrh, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Labdanum
