Uncaria gambir Roxb., commonly known as gambir or gambier, is a plant native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. It belongs to the Rubiaceae family and is well-known for the production of gambier, an extract derived from the leaves and young shoots of the plant. Gambier has been traditionally used for various purposes, particularly in the production of gambier extract, which is widely utilized in the tanning industry.
