Pumice stone is essentially volcanic rock, highly pressurized rock is violently ejected from a volcano. Since it is made out of volcanic rock, pumice stone is lightweight and will even float in water.



Pumice stone could be used for such as washing jeans, light bricks and greenhouse.



Pumice stone could be used for greenhouse because it is a porous volcanic rock with neutral pH level and comprised of highly vesicular strands permeated with tiny air bubbles. The tiny pores on the surface of the pumice act as microscopic reservoirs to absorb and store nutrient-rich moisture, vitamins, and minerals.



Pumice stone gravel has a unique ability to trap and retain moisture. It can be used as a soil improver in soils that do not have an ideal soil texture and suffer either from poor drainage or from insufficient moisture retention capacity.



The porous and complex surface of the pumice stones act as hundreds of tiny sponges, capturing the water and nutrients, and slowly secreting them back into the root system as needed. This allows for less frequent watering while preventing overwatering.



Pumice stone is a natural volcanic stone which is also can be used for stone wash of garments. Since the pumice stone is rough, porous surface, it is useful as an abrasive. During the stone washing process, it works like sandpaper to abrade the jeans, so the jeans feel much softer and faded look.



Another usage of pumice stone is for lightweight concrete and brick. Pumice brick is a construction material. Although it is similar to briquette, it has a different structure and properties. It gives very successful results in sound and heat insulation. The usage area of this type of brick has been getting more and more widespread.
