Natural zeolite use for aquaculture (Shrimp and fish ponds)

Zeolite is used effectively in removal of toxic ammonium ions from recirculating fish and shrimp ponds. When placed in water, zeolite filters ammonia out of the water and holds it inside its' porous structure. As ammonia is highly toxic to fish this is a very useful way of reducing ammonia concentration in water.

Various benefits of natural zeolite for ponds:

*)Helps the growth of phytoplankton in ponds, so that natural food for shrimp is always maintained.

*)Maintaining the stability of the water temperature, as well as maintaining the degree of acidity (pH) of water in a pond.

*)Because it has a high absorption power, zeolite minerals can reduce gases in shrimp feed remaining (not eaten), and the gas comes from the metabolism of other organisms that live at the pond bottom.

*)Zeolite minerals are able to bind heavy metals in water or pond bottom soils that can threaten the survival of fish / shrimp, such as Pb, Fe, Hg, Sn, Bi and AS.

*)The minerals contained in zeolite can restore the lost soil mineral ponds during the operational period of production, so that the fertility of the pond bottom soil can be restored.

Natural Zeolite for Agriculture

The most important of zeolite characteristics are high Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), capability to absorb ammonium ions, and their unique porous structures. Those characteristics can be used for many utilities for agriculture such as soil conditioner, slow release agent of nitrogen fertilizer, and growth media of horticultural plants.

Zeolite has a high Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) that enables a greater loading of plant nutrients such as nitrogen & micronutrients, contributing also to the improvement of fertilizer efficiency. Because of its high Cation Exchange capacity so they can hold plant nutrients (such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and nitrogen in the form of ammonium) within the zeolite structure and release them on demand by a process of ion exchange.

Natural zeolite helps avoid fertilizer loss, reduce nitrogen losses due to volatilization - nitrogen lost as ammonia gas and reduce nutrients loss in the soil. Irrigation washes fertilizer into the root zone of plants whilst some fertilizer remains bound up in zeolite, less fertilizer losses from leaching and fertilizer from zeolite becomes available to extend fertilizer life.

They can also be modified to make slow release fertilizers and can be used as support for herbicides, pesticides or micro-organisms which promote healthy plant growth.

In short, They are highly appreciated for assisting in accelerated plant growth and enhancing quality of crops. These zeolite minerals improve availability of nutrient and help in strengthening roots & stems.
