1. Clove General Specifications





a. Types of Cloves



Clove stems: Used as raw material for clove oil or additional spices.



Clove Oil: A product derived from clove distillation, used in the cosmetic, medicine and food industries.



b. Quality Criteria



Form: Whole dried flowers, not broken, not crushed.



Color: Dark brown to blackish brown. Uniform color is a sign of good quality.



Aroma: Typical aroma of cloves, not rancid.



Taste: Spicy with high essential oil content.



2. Technical Specifications



Moisture Content: Maximum 12% (international standard for dried cloves).



Essential Oil Content: Minimum 15–18% (mainly eugenol as the main component).



Impurities: Maximum 0.5–1%, including dust, leaves, or other foreign materials.



Foreign Object Content: No live insects, pesticide residues, or heavy metals.



3. Standard Size



Flower Length: 1.0–2.0 cm.



Seed Weight: Average weight 0.3–0.5 grams per seed (depending on the origin of the clove).



4. Packaging and Storage



Packaging Type:



Moisture-resistant jute sacks (25 kg or 50 kg per sack).



Plastic-coated cardboard to prevent moisture.
