Citronella oil is an essential oil extracted from the leaves and stems of fragrant lemongrass plants (cymbopogon nardus or cymbopogon winterianus). Having a fresh, sharp, and distinctive aroma, this oil is widely known as an insect repellent, especially mosquitoes.
Citronella oil is used in various products such as anti -mosquito lotion, aromatherapy candles, soap, perfume, to household cleansers. In addition, this oil has antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti -inflammatory properties that make it beneficial in traditional medicine to relieve muscle pain, headaches, and mild stress through aromatherapy or external use.
Indonesia is one of the main producers of high quality Citronella oil. The main components in this oil are Citronelllal, Citronellol, and Geraniol, which plays an important role in determining the strength of the aroma and therapeutic benefits.
