Massoia Bark (Cryptocaria massoia) oil is used in seasoning, traditional medicine and fragrance ingredient.



C-10 Massoia lactone is a major constituent of its essential oil which has been proven to be the antibacterial principle and has the ability to increase the phagocytic index of mice macrophage

In the food industry, massoia bark CO2-extract is used to flavor food and beverages. Its sweet fragrance is reminiscent of coconut flavor.



It is used for flavoring e.g. butter, milk and dairy products, bakeries, confectionery, candies, ice cream, popcorn, cereals and dietary products.



Massoia lactone has a pleasant aroma which is described as sweet, coconutty, lactonic, creamy and milky. A concentration of 20-50 ppm already gives products a creamy, coconut, green, and slightly fruity taste.
