Meranti is a type of commercial wood that is widely used by human, both in making furniture and building houses. This wood is included in the taxonomy (scientific classification) of the Shorea genus and the Dipterocarpaceae family. The texture is quite flat, the growth ring boundaries are not clear, the distribution is single and double radial and the porous vessels are diffuse.



 



As additional information, the texture of the wood itself will be greatly influenced by the wood cells and also uniformity of the size of the cells that make up the wood itself. This wood fiber bond is also included in the best class when compared to other woods. Apart from furniture and construction, Meranti can also be processed into various other final products.



 



The characteristics of this wood, which is easy to process, make it multifunctional and widely used on various sectors. This wood can be processed into particle board, port, plywood veneer, and Wood pulp as the main material for paper.



 



When compared withother types of Wood, Meranti is also included in the category of wood that's closest to perfect with several features it has. It can reach 40-50 meters in height with round, cylindrical stems. The bark can be flat or have grooves (deep/shallow) with a gray to brown color.
