Black Pepper



Pepper is a plant that is rich in chemicals, such as pepper oil, fatty oil, and starch. Pepper is slightly bitter, spicy, warm and antipyretic. This plant has been discovered and known since tens of centuries ago. Pepper plants are widely cultivated in Indonesia such as Aceh, Bangka Belitung, Lampung, West Kalimantan. In general, people only know white pepper and black pepper which are often used as kitchen spices. The difference between white pepper and black pepper lies only in post-harvest handling. White pepper is obtained from peeled peppers while black pepper is obtained from unpeeled peppers. This plant is one of the world’s trade commodities and more than 80% of Indonesian pepper is exported abroad.
