Ulva Lactuca is a flat green algae of the Ulva family, found worldwide. It is considered one of the most useful seaweeds, and its applications include applications in food, agriculture, pharmacology and medicine. The common name for U. lactuca is sea lettuce (because of its appearance).

Ulva is considered a good source of nutrition. It contains high amounts of cobalamin, or vitamin B12, which plays an important role in maintaining the homeostasis of the brain and nervous system, as well as the formation of blood. Like other edible green seaweeds, U. lactuca can have a protein concentration of 33% of the dry weight of the plant. Nutritionally, it contains 87 mg of iron and 700 mg of calcium per 100 grams. It is also rich in sodium, potassium, magnesium, iodine, aluminum, manganese, and nickel, and contains vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin C, calcium, soluble nitrogen, phosphorus, and various trace elements.
